Finland's Participation in the Thirteenth Replenishment of the Asian Development Fund (ADF 13)

Description

The Asian Development Fund (ADF) provides grants to the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) lower-income developing member countries (DMCs). Activities supported by the ADF promote poverty reduction and improvements in the quality of life in the poorer countries of the Asia and Pacific region. The thirteenth replenishment of the ADF (ADF-13), which covers the period 2021 – 2024 will give special attention to six areas to respond to the main challenges in the poorest and most vulnerable DMCs, in alignment with Strategy 2030: (i) supporting Fragile and Conflict affected States and Small Island Developing States; (ii) achieving the SDG 5 transformative gender agenda; (iii) addressing climate change and supporting disaster resilience; (iv) fostering regional cooperation and integration, including the provision of regional public goods such as regional health security, ocean health, biodiversity, and ecosystem services; (v) supporting private sector operations; and (vi) enhancing debt sustainability. ADF donors agreed on an overall replenishment amount of $4,061 million comprising of $3,544 million for the ADF grant window, and $517 million for the Technical Assistance Special Fund.
