Community-Led Accelerated Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Ethiopia, phase III
Description
COWASH (Community-led Accelerated Water, Sanitation and Hygiene ProjectI) increases the availability of safe water and sanitation in rural areas of Ethiopia. The aimed long term impact is to improve the health of the population. The project is based on community led approach: The villages are themselves in charge of the management of the building of thier water points. The project also makes specific efforts to support and empower women, girls and persons with disabilities. The ongoing third phase of the COWASH started in 2016 and it will continue untill summer 2019. Extension of the project is now needed untill end of June 2020, with an additional funding of 700 000 euros. During the extension period the focus will be on sustainability: The experiences and lessons learnt will be documented and specific efforts will be made to support sanitation. The funding for extension period will be divided following: 2019: 412 200 EUR and 287 800 EUR.
