The situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is one of the world’s most protracted yet forgotten crises. There are 4.5 million IDPs in the country and over 782,000 Congolese refugees in the region. This makes the refugee situation of DRC the largest in Africa. UNHCR’s regional response addresses the protection and assistance of current as well as expected Congolese refugees and IDP and returnee population.
