COACH in-service teacher training
Description
The World Bank's Coach fund responds to the global learning crisis by strengthening teachers' in-service training. The program will develop materials and lesson plans in order to help the teachers to improve their teaching and the students' learning results. The program coaches will follow teachers' work in the classroom and and support them to make use of the new methods and materials. The program makes use of successful methods used in other developing countries. The Coach fund includes two separate, yet complementary parts: the Global Coach program and a pilot in Mozambique. Experiences in Mozambique will serve The World Bank to develop a model that also other countries can use when developing their in-service training for teachers. The Coach pilot is in line with Finland's Country Program for Mozambique which aims to improve teachers' professional skills and capacities of the school administration. It also complements Finland's support to Mozambique's education sector. Pilot will be implemented in 2020-2023 in elementary education in two provinces and it will cover about 400 schools and 1600 teachers. The total budget for the pilot is 3,6 million euros, out of which Finland's share is 3 million euros and World Bank's 600 000 euros.
