Building the Next Generation of Mediators in Myanmar to Support the Implementation of Peace Agreements and Political Dialogue
Description
United Nations Population Fund UNFPA´s n Building the Next Generation of Mediators in Myanmar to Support the Implementation of Peace Agreements and Political Dialogue project seeks to equip young people with skills and opportunities to contribute to Myanmar’s peace process at the local and national level. The project further seeks to actively implement and build on the recommendations developed at the first International Symposium on Youth Participation in Peace Processes and during the review of the global policy paper (“We are Here”). Through amplifying local youth voices into the global arena, the project seeks to maintain the momentum of inspiration and advocacy and empower youth peacebuilders. The project will be implemented together with Search for Common Ground. This will be achieved through two objectives: (1) improving key young influencers’ capacity to collaboratively engage in, and influence, formal and informal peace and security decision-making processes, specifically Myanmar’s peace process and (2) advancing national and international attitudes and behaviours regarding Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS), increasing opportunities for youth participation in peace processes. The project responds to gaps in inclusivity in Myanmar´s peace process by leveraging the positive role of young people in building and sustaining peace. Finland supports the project with 500 000 euros.
