Additional contribution of two million euros to UNRWA’s programme budget in 2020. UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) is a humanitarian agency that provides basic services and protection for about 5.4 million Palestine refugees in the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Humanitarian situation in the area has either deteriorated or remains challenging. The humanitarian situation of the Palestine refugees in the entire operation area of UNRWA is challenging. UNRWA has suffered from financial crises for couple of years. COVID-19 has brought an additional challenge to UNRWA’s activities.
