Finland's Support to the Ukrainian School Reform
Description
The cooperation programme between Ukraine and Finland in the education sector supports the realization of the concept of the New Ukrainian School. There is a need to develop the outdated school system to better motivate children to learn, as well as encourage teachers to use new training methods and develop their professional skills. There is also a need to develop the quality of teachers' training in Ukraine. The programme has a national coverage and it focuses on three areas which are linked to each other: Teacher Competence Development, Education Promotion and Education Environments. The expected long term impacts of the project are increased teacher job satisfaction and level of teacher competencies as well as increased perception of public on education sector benefits.The specific outputs include support to planning and implementation of the teacher preparation programme, development of professional standards for principals and teachers, support to development of learning and teacher materials and e-Platform. EU is funding the language component. The four year programme will start in the beginning of 2018. The total budget is 8 million euro. The implementation agency is Finnish Conculting Group FCG.
