Support to Finnish Water Forum

The Finnish Water Forum (FWF) brings together different actors in the water sector, promotes them and makes them better known in the international markets. FWF enhances the collaboration of public and private sectors and the civil society in supporting the developing countries' objectives and the Finnish development policy objectives in the water sector. FWF is a unique organization while it brings together practically all the water sector actors, with currently over 130 member organizations. The development cooperation work of the FWF aims to create new water sector partnerships between the Finnish actors and the actors in the developing countries and to enhance the participation of the private sector to development cooperation activities. The work is done through networking, advocacy and communications. The impacts of the Finnish Water Forum activities contribute specifically to Finland's long-term partner countries, other countries with recognized need to of co-operation and countries in transition. FWF enhances the capacity building of the developing countries in solving water related challenges, in effective water governance, in improving water protection and in the development of the sector through partnerships. FWF has successfully supported the transition from the traditional water sector development cooperation to new forms of collaboration especially in Vietnam. It is proposed that the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will support the development cooperation activities of the Finnish Water Forum under its programme of work for 2020-2022 with the amount of 120 000 euro per year, 360 000 euros in total. The support will be granted as state aid.
