Description

International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is one of the most important humanitarian aid organisations in the world. It can operate in such severe conditions where even UN organizations have difficulties. The ICRC is an independent, neutral organization ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of war and armed violence. It takes action in response to emergencies (family reunification, medical and healt services, water and sanitation, livelihoods) and promotes respect for international humanitarian law and its implementation in national law. ICRC is an important partner for Finland and the third largest receiver of Finland's humanitarian assistance. Finland gives 3 million euros yearly as unearmarked core funding to the ICRC.
