Demo Finland, Political Parties of Finland for Democracy, program 2013-2015

Demo Finland is an ideologically, party-politically and religiously neutral organisation that arranges collaboration between officially registered Finnish parliamentary parties. Demo Finland works to promote pluralistic democracy by implementing co-operation projects involving Finnish parties and political movements in developing countries. Demo Finland’s activities are based on the fundamental importance of democracy for development, and the significance of well-functioning and responsible parties for democracy. Demo Finland supports the goals of Finland’s official development policies by getting actors from political parties involved. Political parties can play a key role in supporting true democracies. Demo Finland brings added value to Finnish democracy support around the world by channeling expertise and contributing through our own work in this increasingly vital aspect of development. In Nepal, Demo Finland will continue supporting the Joint Youth and Students platform formed by 18 political youth and student organisations. The objective is to enhance peaceful cooperation and dialogue between political youth and student organisations and to strengthen equal access to political decision-making for youth. In Tunisia, Demo Finland will continue to support the Tunisia School of Politics. The school aims to bring together youth from different political parties and provide them tools for strategic political thinking. The objective is to enhance political youth's capacity and constructive and policy oriented engagement in politics across party lines. In Tanzania, Demo Finland will continue supporting the Tanzania Women Cross-Party Platform (T-WCP) in order to enhance the capacity and cooperation of women politicians. The action aims at enhancing the equal representation of men and women at all levels of politics and the increasing status of gender equality on the political agenda. In Zambia, Demo Finland will start a new project in 2013 in order to strengthen political participation of women at the district level together with the Zambia National Women’s Lobby. In Addition, Demo Finland aims to increase awareness of development policy and boost involvement in and positive attitudes towards development co-operation among actors within Finnish political parties. .
