Khat drug abuse is very frequent among young and adult population in Puntland, Somalia; it is also one catalyst in conflicts. Awareness of the harms of this drug is low even among educated persons. Improvement of the livelihood of the young, increased awareness, integration of the youth in common activities and sports will affect also the need of khat.
