Cultural projects in developing countries are meant to complete the Finnish aid to developing countries and diversify the means of development aid. The aim of cultural exchange is to advance cooperation between cultural workers from developing countries and their counterparts from Finland, as well as to support culture and cultural identity in developing countries. In selecting projects, considerations include the balance between various branches of culture and between different continents. Another consideration is how different a project is from other funding and forms of cooperation. The aim of cultural cooperation in developing countries is to support economic and social development and decrease poverty.
