Scaling-up Research and Capacity Building for Improved Development Policy in Mozambique 2015-2018
Description
The overarching development objective of the programme Scaling Up Research and Capacity Building on Improved Development Policy in Mozambique for the period 2015-18 is to support inclusive growth that substantially improves the living standards of the majority of the Mozambican population. The overall objective will be pursued through a focused research and capacity building programme, meant to increase analytical capabilities and inform better policy making, organized in four policy areas targeted on the following key impacts: (i) Employment creation and protection of vulnerable groups; (ii) Attaining and maintaining long run macroeconomic balance; (iii) Furthering structural transformation; and (iv) Improving socio-economic information systems for monitoring and evaluation. As an integral part of the programme three national institutions (two in the Ministry of Planning and Development and one at the University Eduardo Mondlane) will participate in implementing a joint programme of work, involving institutional collaboration with two international partners. The long run objective is to strengthen local analytical capacities to the point where further technical assistance is no longer required. The Project is one of the four components of Finland's support to governance sector in Mozambique.
