International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI)
Description
The International Aid Transparency Initiative aims to deliver a step shift in public availability and accessibility of information on aid flows and activities, globally. It does this by bringing together donors, partner countries CSOs and other users of aid information to agree a set of common standards applicable to all aid flows. Launched at the Accra High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in 2009, the donor signatories made a commitment to promote openness and transparency in development cooperation. IATI's objective is to eradicate poverty by providing more comprehensive, up-to-date and detailed development cooperation data, that meets the different data needs especially in the developing countries and is easily available. Improving transparency improves the efficiency of development cooperation, reduces risks of misuse and corruption, enhances accountability and ownership in developing countries.
