Description
Central African Republic is one of the poorest states in the world and need for humanitarian assistance has enhanced after the coup in March 2013. Fights between Seleka and anti-Balaka and attacks against civilians have deepened the need for humanitarian assistance. Total of 2,5 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance including over 560 000 IDP's and from the beginning of the conflict about 370 000 refugees. Acute malnutrion rate among the refugees are between 20 and 30 per cent. Thousands of children under 5 suffer from Severe Acute Malnutrition. WFP aims to support life-saving food and nutrition needs. Support is directed to Central African Republic Regional Response Plan and Central African Republic. Reogional plan includes Chad, DRC, Congo and Cameroon. UN organisations FAO, IOM, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNWOMEN, WFP and WHO are included as well as NGOs. Total amount of the request is 274 196 087 USD of which the share of WFP 61 685 471 USD.
