Support to the Human Rights and Business (IHRB)

Description

The premise of the Institute´s work is that economic, ecological and social sustainability needs to be underpinned by respect for the inherent dignity of humankind and the rights embodied in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the two UN Human Rights Covenants and the relevant Conventions. The role of the private sector is a powerful corollary in determining the rate of progress towards some of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the United Nations endorsed Protect, Respect, Remedy Framework on Business and Human Rights represents a significant advance in efforts to ensure that private sector actors contribute to sustainable development and respect for fundamental rights.
