Description
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is a UN specialized agency that promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development particularly in developing countries. The Organization focuses on three main thematic areas: 1) poverty reduction through productive activities, 2) trade capacity-building, 3) energy and environment UNIDO is one of Finalnd's key multilateral partners on Aid for Trade -related work. With Finland's funding UNIDO has strengthened developing countries capacity to meet quality standards of exports, supported agro-industry value chain development and promoted business partnerships in southern Africa in the forestry sector. Finland's support to UNIDO in 2017 is 2.1 million euros. The funding is channeled to UNIDO's Business Partnership Trust Fund (1.4 million euros), Agro-Industry Promotion Trust Fund (350'000 euros) and Trade Capacity Building Trust Fund (350'000 euros).
