Support of Joint Financing arrangement of IGAD (extension)

Description

Finland has supported Inter-Governmental Authority on Development since its establishment in late 1980s. Between 2011-2014 Finland supported strengthening the institutional and project management capacity through a bilateral project. The project achieved its objectives: the Project Planning and Management Unit was established and the project management capacity as well as the strategic planning capacity of IGAD strengthened. In 2015 Finland channeled its support to the Institutional Strengthening Action Plan through a Joint Financing Arrangement together with other Nordic countries. IGAD is in a process of formulating a new strategy. At the same time the Institutional Strengthening Action Plan as well as the Joint Financing Arrangement will be revised from the beginning of 2016. The Joint Financing Arrangement will support the institutional strengthening of IGAD to deliver its mandate of regional stability, integration and prosperity. Finland will support the Institutional Strengthening Action Plan with 1,5 million euros in 2016-18, i.e. 0,5 million euros annually.
