Literacy of women in Sango language for spiritual and social development
Description
Long term objective of the program is to contribute literacy rate among women and blind people over 15 years and thus empower them and their families and local communities including churches. Illiteracy among adults is very hugh in the Central Africa Republic and it is also very gender biased. PVDs are often discriminated and 90% of them are illiterate. Literacy classes also include basic Maths and health education. Classes are organized within local churches but are open for all faiths. The intervention includes training of literacy teachers, produsing materials, sensitization of community leaders of the importance of literacy and network building with churches. Production of Sango Braille is very significant for the PVD community.
