Transparency International. Proposal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland for Core Support in 2017 and 2018
Description
Transparency International (TI) is a global movement with one vision: a world in which government, business, civil society and the daily lives of people are free of corruption. Through more than 100 chapters and chapters in formation worldwide, individual members, and an international secretariat in Berlin TI campaign for greater transparency and accountability in government and business. TI is independent and politically non-partisan and work with partners in government, business and civil society to stop corruption. TI’s national chapters form a decentralized network of independent, locally rooted organisations, supported by the international secretariat and the expertise of individual members. While chapters bring extensive knowledge of national contexts, an indispensable resource for effective anti-corruption advocacy, the secretariat gives a global voice to the TI movement, which is heard and acknowledged in the largest and most relevant international fora and media. TI has three overarching priorities for 2016-2020: 1. People and partners: the movement seeks to increasingly engage citizens and support individuals and groups to demand accountability. This includes work with victims and witnesses of corruption and whistleblowers, as well as sustaining and expanding global partnerships. 2. Prevention, enforcement and justice: TI will foster preventative anti-corruption measures and the enforcement of laws in order to stop impunity. TI will continue to strengthen its global advocacy and campaigning efforts, with more emphasis on stopping corrupt international financial flows, tackling grand corruption and promoting business integrity and transparency in political party financing. 3. Strong movement: TI will strengthen its movement and increase the understanding what works to stop corruption. TI will support its chapters in developing their capacity, e.g. in governance, financial management and leadership and it will increase its presence in strategically important countries.
