Digital Health Future: Roadmapping South African Strategy
Description
CSIR's (The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research ) Meraka Instutute's and VTT's (Technical Research Centre of Finland) ICI project "Digital Health Future: Roadmapping South African Strategy" is set to accelerate and augment the use of new technologies to address South Africa's social and health challenges by strengthening CSIR-Meraka's capacity to plan, manage and implement society wide technology strategies. The project seeks to strengthen South Africa's capacity to valorise the potential of ICT for the country's health sector. VTT-CSIR-Meraka collaboration is about capacity building and collaborative analysis of where digital technologies are to make a difference in the health care, what the particular and central South African conditions and priorities affected by this potential are, and how significant change should be implemented. The final beneficiaries of the project will be the communities that have suffered from the lack of resources in health care and the poor accessibility of health services. The two-year project capitalises on VTT's expertise and has a budget of about 444 000 euros.
