Mental Health Training Centre Herat (MHTC Herat)
Description
Mental Health Training Center Herat addresses the lack of evidence based mental health care in the Western Region of Afghanistan. The objective is through capacity building (training courses and clinical work) patients with mental illnesses receive professional care by primary health care and the project staff. Furthermore medical, nursing and midwifery stuednts are able to apply their theoretical knowledge. Doctorns in the national Psychiatric Residency Training Program are able to give quality mental health care on the secondary level. The project aims at developing a national curriculum for psychiatric nursing specialization during the project cycle. Project psychologists gain theoretical and practical knowledge/skills in order to treat patients better in the multidisciplinary team.
