Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project-Western Nepal, Completion Phase
Description
RWSSP Completion Phase will continue support to advance rural water supply and sanitation in western Nepal. Nepal's national goal is to reach total clean water and sanitation coverage by 2017. Access to clean water and sanitation is one of the basic human rights. In this respect awareness of rural population on these rights will be increased and the capacity of the 'duty bearers' i.e. national institutions to respond with sufficient service provision will be strengthened. A phasing-out strategy will be prepared to ensure transfer of responsibilities and sustainability of results after the end of the project. Expansion of the project's scope to rural livelihoods will be explored during the planning phase. Arsenic mitigation will be taken into account in the Terai-region.
