ESCWA National Agenda for the Future of Syria
Description
The project by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) focuses on assessing the damage caused by the Syrian crisis and it aims to begin the process to establish a common understanding on the reconstruction of Syria (National Agenda for the Future of Syria Project). The goal is to produce a comprehensive range of options for national reconciliation, democracy and the promotion of economic reconstruction. The project has progressed to its second stage, during which an initial assessment of the needs for the reconstruction of Syria will be produced. The priorities of the construction phase will be water management and agriculture, housing, small business support, energy and infrastructure. Also, questions regarding trade, industry and social infrastructure such as schools and hospitals will be examined. It is recommended that the proposal be funded by 200,000 Euros in one installement in 2014.
