Finland's core funding to UNRWA in 2015-2018, total 18 million euros (annually 4,5 million euros). UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) is a humanitarian agency offering basic services to around five million Palestine refugees in the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. The humanitarian situation in all of UNRWA's fields of operation, especially in Syria and Gaza, has become more severe in the past years. More and more Palestine refugees rely on UNRWA's schools, health services and food assistance. Finland's unearmarked core funding the agency's General Fund helps it fulfill its mandate.
