UNU-WIDER twinning with AERC

Englanniksi: UNU-WIDER has established a twinning partnership with the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), based in Nairobi, Kenya. The purpose of the partnership is to promote collaboration between the two institutions and to boost their research and capacity-building activities. The four-year (2010-13) initiative consists of three main components: 1) establishing and supporting a a team of UNU-WIDER researchers in Nairobi, 2) collaborating with AERC in several areas and 3) bringing researchers from AERC to Helsinki for capacity-building purposes. The initiative will bring UNU-WIDER closer to the African countries and will also expand its outreach to other research institutions as well as policy makers in Africa. The initiative will also add crucial weight to AERC's research capacity through the sharing of knowledge and training with UNU-WIDER researchers. The collaboration will also add to capacity building at local level, as well as to promoting research in the field of Development Economics.
