Humanitarian assistance to the Philippines
Description
Over 6000 persons died in November 2013 when Typhoon Haiyan ripped across the Philippines. Over 16 million people has been effected. Because of the typhoon the livelihoods have disapeared, particularly related to coconut farming. FAO participates in early recovery in the Philippines and assits the families farming of rice, corn and coconut. Livelihoods recovery is also needed in fisheries and livestock. Requirement for FAO in the Philippines is 38 million USD. The funding gap is 69 %. The UN appeal for the Philippines is 791 million USD.
