Support to CSOs in Environmental Issues, Phase II
Description
Building on the first phase, in the second phase or the project (2014-2018) the support is allocated to Zambian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working with environmental issues. The overall objective of the project is to support sustainable and equitable development in Zambia by enhancing the role of CSOs in sound environmental management. The purpose is to initiate and implement innovative funding mechanisms and facilitate capacity development and dialogue processes for CSOs. The project is expected to enhance the contribution of CSOs to various environment and natural resources management processes in Zambia, as a result of improvements in institutional and technical capacities of these organizations; to improve coordination due to capacity development, information sharing, communication and networking efforts among CSOs; and to accelerate the implementation of environment and natural resources programmes and projects to prevent, reduce and reverse environmental degradation. The project has a total budget of 4.6 million euros over a four year period. The project follows phase 1 implementation modality of outsourcing project management services to an organisation that will establish a Project Management Unit.
