The Polio Eradication Initiative started in Afghanistan in l994. Now, the overall objective of the initiative is to interrupt there the wild poliovirus transmission. The specific objective of the project is to immunize over 95% of the targeted 7.9 million children in each round of National immunization days and 95% of 3.6 million children in each round of Sub-national immunization days.
