Programme for Institutional Cooperation between Higher Education Institutions (HEI ICI)
Description
The long-term objective of the HEI ICI programme is to strengthen the performance of higher education institutions in the global south, to support their ability to participate in the development of a stable, functioning and egalitarian society. This aim will be reached through building competences based on local, regional and national development needs and thus contributing to reduction of extreme poverty. The programme supports widely the Finland´s development cooperation priority sectors; Improving the position of women and girls, Supporting the democratic character and proper functioning of societies, Promoting sustainable solutions in energy production and food and water supply, and Reinforcing the private sector and employment. Through investing in research and education is seen as investment in the long run for the developing of steady, active and equal society. HEI ICI programme contributes HEIs participation in building stable, efficient and equitable societies by enhancing human capacities for their own development needs. Beneficiaries are the students and teachers in Southern higher education institutions who will benefit for improved quality of teaching, access on information and services.
