Partnership for Market Readiness (Finland's contribution)

Description

Partnership for Market Readiness: www.thepmr.org/ The objective of the Partnership for Market Readiness is to develop carbon market capacity in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The target countries develop and test market mechanisms for cost effective climate change mitigation. The Partnership for Market Readiness takes into consideration the target countries’ different technical and administrative capacities. The target countries have the opportunity to develop market mechanisms suitable to them, such as national emissions trading schemes or sector crediting mechanisms. The benefits of the Partnership extend beyond carbon markets, for example to low carbon development strategies. Emissions reductions have a direct impact on climate change mitigation as well as other environmental factors, such as air quality. The target countries are on the DAC list and qualify for ODA. The support can be counted towards Finland’s Fast Start Finance
