INGO/Inter Press Service (IPS)
Description
IPS is an international organization with a global news agency is at the core with over 400 journalists in 145 countries. IPS provides news in 20 languages focusing on dev (Inter Press Service) elopment, environment, human rights and civil society. Cross cutting themes are reducing poverty, MDGs, sustainable development, climate change, human rights and gender equality especially from the point of view of countries and communities of the South. IPS trains journalists in developing countries and increases dissemination of information and networking. The organization was founded in 1964. IPS has ODA-eligibility and a consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Finland has supported the organization since 2000. IPS´s activities support good governance, democracy and gender equality. Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and IPS have made an agreement of co-operation for a three-year-period (2013–2015).
