Black Sea Peacebuilding Network
Description
This initiative is a continuation of a project that engages leading think-tanks and NGOs from the region and CMI in a Black Sea regional network on peacebuilding. The project has already enabled a solid basis for the development of national and regional civil society peacebuilding forums. The objectives of the network are to continue to foster local ownership and regional collaboration between NGOs in the Black Sea area and to create linkage to civil society from specific conflict-settings. The idea is to forge common approaches of key regional actors and the EU to strengthen the role of civil society and unlock their peacemaking potential; to strengthen peacebuilding capacities at local policy and grass roots level; and to improve efficient communication and advocacy by providing opportunities for networking. In support of this process, CMI provides a participatory foresight methodology, already in use in other regions. In order to involve a large number of experts and to promote the project activities, the expert councils that are operating in seven countries of the region intensifying their public meetings in various provinces of the projects countries. In addition to the experts from the mentioned countries the structure of the project envisages the involvement of experts from EU member states of the Black Sea region, as well as from conflict areas of the region.
