Finland's Participation in the Twelfth Replenishment of the Asian Development Fund (ADF 12)
Description
Asian Development Fund (ADF), which is part of Asian Development Bank (ADB), provides grant assistant to the poorest countries and countries with weak debt sustainability in the region. The operations of the Fund are guided by ADB's long-term strategy, whose central pillars are inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth and regional integration. Largest beneficiaries of the Fund in recent years have included Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Viet Nam. The granted funding is Finland's contribution to the Asian Development Fund for the period 2017-2020. During the period, the grant assistance provided by the ADF will, among others, improve the quality of teaching for 199 000 students, connect 117 000 households to electricity and improve water supply of 159 000 households.
