IUCN; gender and empowerment of women
Description
The project will support IUCN's work to promote gender equality and empower women in 2018 with EUR 100 000 and strengthen synergies between international environmental agreements, in particular the Rio conventions. The project is closely linked to Finland's and IUCN's framework partnerships, with a cross-cutting emphasis on improving gender equality and the rights and status of women and girls and strengthening synergies between international environmental agreements in developing countries. The project supports the work of IUCN with the aim of strengthening the gender reporting and implementation under the UN Convention to Combat Desertification and an open online harmonized capacity building platform for gender-environment links. The objectives contribute to the implementation of the IUCN 2017-2020 program, in particular the global result 2 “Natural resource governance at all levels enables delivery of effective conservation and equitable social outcomes by integrating good governance principles and rights-based approaches”.
