Description
The Nordic Trust fund (NTF) of the World Bank is a knowledge and learning program on human rights. NTF started its operation in the year 2006 with funding from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Island. Total funding at the end of the year 2014 was 25,6 million USD of which the share of Finland was 4,65 million USD. Germany has also contributed 600.000 USD to support programs which they have chosen to be funded. There are two main components in NTF: knowledge sharing and grant support. NTF has during its lifespan granted support to programs, studies, has organized events/workshops to World Bank staff and produced literature on human rights.NTF Grant Programs are focusing and influencing on improving poor people's access to health, education, food and water; promoting the participation of indigenous peoples in decision-making and the accountability of governments to their citizens; supporting justice reforms, fighting corruption and increasing transparency of governments.
