Humanitarian assistance to UNHCR's operation in Kenya, where the organization provides assistance to over 600 000 refugees who have fled the neighbouring countries due to instability, violence or famine. The number of refugees is increasing rapidly due to the crisis in South Sudan, and UNHCR has increased its budget for 2014 to around 170 million euros. The bulk of the budget is used for covering the basic needs and essential services for refugees.
