Promotion of Women's Security in Kosovo
Description
Finland supports the project of UN Kosovo Team (UNDP, UNFPA, UN Women, UNICEF, OHCHR) to enhance the implementation of the Kosovo Law, National Strategy and Action Plan on Domestic Violence. Support is given to actions that improve the response to Violence against Women (VAW). In three pilot municipalities support is given to the implementation of the National Action Plan on Domestic Violence including 1) awareness raising (prevention), 2) capacity building of the local service providers for the victims of domestic violence (protection) and 3) strengthening the central and local government's response to the rights of survivors of conflict-related SGBV. The project is in line with the Finnish development policy principles. By far the project has produced information and studies on domestic violence in Kosovo, raised discussion on SGBV and awareness of the decision-makers, and raised public awareness on domestic violence.(prevention). Capacities of the municipalities to produce user-friendly services for victims of domestic violence have been strengthened. In additon, the project has supported the pilot municipalities in creating coordination mechanisms against domestic violence, delivered capacity-building in GRB, and supported the coordination mechanisms in the development of municipal DV strategies.
