1325 - "Women, Peace and Security" implementation; planning
Description
Finland has a long history of promoting gender equality and in 2008, was one of the first countries to adopt a National Action Plan to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security. The second action plan released in 2016 and covers years 2012-2016. The Action Plan has been an important instrument in efforts to increase interest in the status of women and in women’s participation in issues related to peace and security, both nationally and internationally. Finland will update its national Action Plan on 1325 in 2017 and continues to support the development and implementation of national plans in partner countries. To improve the quality of Finland’s work in terms of Women, peace and security agenda (UNSC resolution 13259. The funds are used for productive preparation of the 1325 work, evaluation and monitoring with the help of Ministry's own staff and outside consultants. In addition, the funds are used in a variety of small-scale studies and seminars, as well as the 1325 work-related travel expenses.
