VÄLIME/Preparation and assessment

Description

Finland's support to North Africa and the Middle East has been doubled for the period of 2012-2015 and several new projects have been started and some of the old ones are continuing. Finland's long time priorities have been environmental sector and support to the enhancement of human rights. These two sectors are still relevant with more emphasis now on human rights, especially women's rights and democracy, good governance and strong civil society. Preparation, monitoring and assessment of the projects is on going process in the project management. During 2013 and 2014 several projects will be assessed, some of the starting projects will have an initial field assesment and some project are coming to mid-term of their lifespan. Most of the the preparation and and assesment will be outsourced and some of it is done by ministry's own personnel both desk officers and advisors. Adequate resources are needed for these activities in order to guarantee best possible outcome of the Finnish support to the region.
