Partnership for Action on Green Economy PAGE

Description

This partnership project by five UN agencies - UNEP, UNDP, UNITAR, UNIDO and ILO - aims at helping countries to achieve equitable and sustainable transformation of national economic structures. This transformation will make economic activities – consumption and production at the macroeconomic level – not only generate equitably shared income and quality jobs for women and men, but also contribute to environmental improvement and poverty eradication. The key to this transformation is shifting investment and policies towards the creation of a new generation of assets: clean technologies, energy and resource efficient infrastructure, well-functioning ecosystems, a skilled labour force with green jobs driven by strong institutions and good governance. The idea is to create such structures, networks and policy actions that secure the national ownership on green economy beyond 2020. According to the mid-term evaluation of PAGE it is still very relevant and has been rather successful in supporting developing countries to achieve green economy transformation as well as supporting them to implement Agenda 2030 and climate change agreement. During 2013-2016 PAGE supported 11 countries as well as acted globally to increase knowledge and capacity on green economy. PAGE supports in particular achieving the main goals II and IV of Finland's development policy. Finland has supported PAGE with 1,3 MEUR during 2013-2016. The planned support is 2 MEUR to be used in 2017-2021.
