Western Mamberamo Holistic Development Programme
Description
The quality of education in Papua is poor, particularly in remote areas where schools are either non-existent or sub-standard. Many students from rural areas attending secondary school continue to experience significant problems reading and writing. The project’s long term objective is to contribute to the abilities of developing Papua communities to manage their own development. The immediate objective is to improve the state of primary education by simplifying available education material and providing additional mother tongue education to children and adults. Target beneficiaries include the minority language communities of the Western Mamberamo cluster (Edopi/Kiri-Kiri/Tause), the Korowai, Bauzi and Dani located in East Papua.
