AgriCord vzw, The International Alliance of agri-agencies
Description
Agricord is an initiative of professional farmers’ organisations and their cooperative businesses from countries in Europe, Canada; Africa and Asia, bundling their efforts for strengthening their colleagues in developing countries. The AgriCord alliance currently consists of 12 development agencies (agri-agencies) jointly managing and implementing one common development program Farmers Fighting Poverty (FFP). The proposed AgriCord programme to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, “Farmers Fighting Poverty programme - Improving farmers’ organisations’ access to Agricultural and Forestry Value Chains” –- covers a 2-year period (2018-2019). Core-funding for the AgriCord alliance will support two immediate objectives: 1. Improve farmers’ organisations’ and their members’ capacity to lobby for inclusive certification systems or for operational trade contracts regarding quality 2. Improve efficiency and effectiveness of aid channelled through Farmers Fighting Poverty and reinforced gender perspective The total budget requested for 2018-2019 is €800.000.
