IUCN-Finland Framework agreement

Description

IUCN is a globally unique actor in the conservation of biodiversity and in enhancing nature-based solutions and good environmental management. The Framework agreement between Finland and IUCN supports integration of environmentally sustainable development in the cooperation with the developing countries and in their development programmes, especially related to the conservation of biodiversity, mitigation of and adaptation to climate change, poverty reduction and security. Finland's general support (350 000 €) emphasises effective and equitable governance of the use of natural resources; developing nature-based solutions supporting sustainable economic, social and environmental development; and mitigation of and adaptation to the effects of climate change. In these priority areas special emphasis will be given to enhancing gender equality and the rights and status of women and girls, as well as to strengthening synergies between the international environment conventions in developing countries.
