Project of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court to strengthen the operational conditions of the ICC in Africa and MENA-region
Description
CICC is a coalition including 2500 member NGOs working for advancing international justice. The objective of CICC is to strengthen the operational conditions of ICC in particular in Africa and MENA-region, where the ICC situation countries are situated. CICC promotes international criminal law and fight against impunity e.g. by providing expertise, supporting cooperation between authorities and raising awareness of the ICC. In its Africa and MENA-region efforts the CICC emphasizes promoting ratifications and implementation of the Rome Statute and developing national judicial systems by e.g. raising awareness of the international criminal justice and impunity. By strengthening the capacity of local NGOs, the CICC contributes also to peace-building and development of the civil society. The goals of the CICC are in line with the goals of the Finnish Development Policy to create sustainable development. The fight against impunity strengthens the linkage between security, human rights and development, and it is one of the focuses of international law according to the MFA's UN strategy.
