11. European Development Fund
Description
The European Development Fund (EDF) is the main instrument for providing the EU's development aid in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries and the overseas countries and territories (OCTs). The principles of the ACP-EU partnership are defined in the ACP-EU Partnership Agreement (Cotonou Agreement). The main objectives of the EU-ACP partnership are the reduction of poverty and the gradual integration of the ACP States into the global economy, whilst adhering to the aims of sustainable development. The EDF is established by an internal agreement between the EU Member States for a multi-annual finacial period (11th EDF for 2013-2020) . The EDF is not a part of the EU's general budget.
