Finland's Support to Institutional Strengthening of IGAD

The Finnish cooperation (technical assistance and financing) supports broadly institutional strengthening and capacity building at IGAD (Intergovernmental Authority on Development), organization for regional cooperation in the Horn of Africa. During 2011 - 2014, Finland has supported institutional strengthening of IGAD through Project Preparation and Management Unit (PPMU) and Joint Financing Arrangement (JFA). Effective delivery of regional development projects will improve the image of IGAD in the region and strengthen the Member States commitment to their organization. Study tour of IGAD women parlamentarians and visit of Secretary General Mahboub Maalim to Finland will be organised in 11 - 18 May 2014. The funding applied for the visit is 47 000 euros.
