Western Balkans/Planning and evaluation of Western Balkans projects

Description

Finland's Development Policy Framework Programme for the Western Balkans for the years 2009-2013 has been completed. Finnish development cooperation in the Western Balkans is implemented only in Kosovo -the poorest country in the region. Kosovo is a lower middle income country. Finnish support to Kosovo after budget cuts is 750 000 euros in the year 2016. The projects which are implemented will be completed during 2016 and 2017. The Finnish support is channeled mainly through international organizations, and the projects main focus is economic development and employment. Special attention is paid to human rights based approach and the achievement of concrete results. In addition a separate regional flood prevention project (Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia) is implemented in 2015-2016. The Unit for EU Enlargement and Western Balkans reserves 100 000 euros for the monitoring of the implementation and supporting the conclusion of the projects in the Western Balkans for the years 2015-2016.
