Global Review ’Building Accountability for National and Regional Implementation of UNSC Resolutions on Women, Peace and Security’ (1325)

Description

In its role coordinating the UN’s implementation of the women, peace and security agenda, UN Women will organize an international meeting to review the conditions under which NAPs have advanced implementation of the Security Council’s women, peace and security resolutions, progress to date, and will identify best practices and forward-looking strategies for improved implementation. The overall aim of the meeting will be to review current approaches and to invigorate and generate momentum for scaling up good practices and applying more effective strategies for implementation of the women, peace and security resolutions at national and regional levels. The specific objectives of the meeting are to: • Identify and inspire innovative methodologies to advance national and regional implementation strategies; • document and share lessons learned and best practice on the development and implementation of strategies such as National Action Plans; • Identify ways to address existing challenges such as development of monitoring procedures, indicators and sustainable financing mechanisms; • develop recommendations for future directions to accelerate national and regional implementation. The meeting will assemble details on innovative approaches for consideration by Member States in their national strategies.
