Promoting eco-sanitation and water services in people´s settlement
Description
60 % of Nairobi´s population lives in settlements characterized by exclusion, overcrowding and insalubrious conditions. Majority of residents do not have access to decent and adequate sanitation. The purpose of the project is to improve access to sanitation services, improve sanitation marketing, business planning and hygiene promotion in the unplanned, informal settlements of Mukuru and Kibera. One bio-center with toilet and shower facilities and three composting latrines in two non-formal schools in Kibera will be constructed. Members of community will be trained in e.g. design and construction of bio-sanitation facilities, management and marketing of bio-sanitation services and hygiene promotion.
